Daylighting Controllers
Also known as "daylight harvesting systems", these devices measure the contribution daylight makes the total ambient light level in a space (via windows and/or skylights) and adjusts electric lighting accordingly, either via on/off control or by continuous dimming. When properly applied, daylighting controllers can save energy while enhancing the look and feel of a space.
Because of the variable nature of daylighting and weather, these systems are sometimes challenging to design and program. Dimming daylighting controllers also require special four-wire dimming ballasts to operate, such as the Advance Mark 7. The staff at Lighting Associates has experience with daylighting and can assist you with design, specification, and startup. We can also suggest alternative methods of control if daylighting is not suitable for your project.
